What is boudoir photography?

bou·doir
Pronunciation:\ˈbü-ˌdwär,
Function: noun
Etymology: French, from bouder to pout
Date: 1781
: a woman’s dressing room, bedroom, or private sitting room

Boudior photography is the perfect way to reconnect with our feminine and sensual sides. To often the demands from all of the roles and responsibilities that we as women take on, prevent us from remembering that under all those hats and titles, we are in fact women.  Soft, sensual, alluring, captivating and oh so desirable.  In the hustle and bustle of whisking the kids to school and sports practices, full time employment on top of mothering responsibilities, rush home to fix a nutritious meal, check the homework, sign the papers and herd everyone off to bed, only to start over again tomorrow… we forget to relish the fact that we are beautiful creatures.  Even with the battle wounds of motherhood stretch marks (we’ve all got ‘em!), breasts that just don’t sit where they used to or a softer tummy than we’d special order if given the chance.  We are still the most beautiful creatures on earth.  It was pointed out to me  a few years ago that in the creation story in Genesis, after each of the days of creation, God looked over his work and declared it “good”… UNTIL, he created the man and woman… which he declared were “VERY good”!
As a woman with more physical flaws than I care to acknowledge, I can totally relate to the nervous apprehension that keeps us from reconnecting with our inner beauty.  Through careful posing and beautiful use of light and shadows, I will find your (or his) favorite features and play them up to their best advantage.  Any areas you are uncomfortable showing, will remain covered.  My goal is to create images that not only take his breath away, but yours too.

Heather Corn - I am very interested in having portraits done for my husband. Our anniversary is coming up, and this year has been very rough, and I want to spoil him! He loves my curves, but I am overweight… what techniques do you have for making an overweight woman look sexy on camera? Is it in the lighting, the angle, the position, or more in the clothing she chooses to wear? If you could talk to me about it a bit I would be very appreciative!

admin - Aloha Heather! It’s a little bit of all of the above quite honestly. EVERY woman is beautiful and I’m more than happy to discuss any apprehensions you may have with you.
